Threat rating and standard
The FAST High-Cut carries NIJ Level IIIA+ designation, surpassing NIJ IIA, II, and IIIA threat parameters under standards 0106.01 and 0108.01 in testing. That means it handles the full handgun threat spectrum — 9mm FMJ and hollow-point, .40 cal, .45 cal, .357 SIG, .44 Magnum, 7.62x25mm Tokarev with steel jacket, .50 AE JHP, and 5.7x28mm — as well as 12-gauge slug and buckshot. It also satisfies multiple international compliance frameworks: VPAM PM 1–5 with PM 6 resistance, TR DE SK L-2 with SK 3 resistance, HOSDB HG1/A–HG2 with RF1 resistance, GOST Class 1–2A with Class 3 resistance, and GOST 2017 BR 1–3 with BR 4 resistance. It additionally complies with US Mil-Std 662 E, UK standard UK/SC/5449, and NATO standard STANAG 2920.
Like all wearable ballistic helmets, this helmet is not rated against high-velocity rifle threats. Shell material and construction
The ballistic shell is constructed from aramid fiber, chosen for its strength-to-weight ratio at handgun threat levels. The exterior carries a 360-degree all-weather coating that extends inside the helmet, protecting the shell in wet or dusty environments. A rigid exterior profile deflects or absorbs projectile energy away from the head, while the rounded geometry distributes impact force across the shell surface. Each helmet undergoes multi-round testing — a single helmet absorbs 18 or more rounds from various calibers, including two .44 Magnum shots, before the unit leaves production.
Suspension and retention
Retention centers on a rapid-adjusting ratcheting headband that captures almost any head shape without tools. The headband works alongside two interchangeable interior padding sets — one thinner profile and one thicker — plus a fixed tan safety padding layer that stays in place regardless of which comfort set is installed. All padding uses memory foam construction: firm initially, conforming after a short break-in period, and resilient enough to retain its shape through years of use. Padding pieces attach via Velcro and can be repositioned or removed for cleaning.
The chin harness is a 4-point system with fully adjustable straps and a leather chin grip for positive retention during dynamic movement. The entire harness assembly is color-matched to the selected helmet finish.
Mount compatibility
The helmet ships with a color-matched NVG shroud (NVG mount) already installed, accepting standard multi-NVG mounts — no proprietary adapter required. The tactical ARC rail system runs vertically and horizontally on both sides, with integrated 2-point bungees that self-hold within the rail channels. An ARC-to-Picatinny adapter is included in the box, opening the rail to the full catalog of Picatinny-compatible accessories: lights, cameras, mandible guards, and counterweights. Bolts securing the ARC rails are black regardless of helmet color. The rail geometry matches mil-spec configurations, so existing accessories sized for standard combat helmet platforms mount directly.
Sizing
Two size bands cover the adult head size range. The S/M/L size fits head circumferences from 20 to 23 inches (50–59 cm), corresponding to US hat sizes 6-1/4 through 7-1/2. The L/XL/XXL size fits 22 to 27 inches (57–69 cm), covering US hat sizes 7-1/8 through 8-1/2 and above. Head circumference is measured starting above the brow line. The ratcheting headband and adjustable padding sets provide additional fine-tuning within each size band. Shell weight without accessories is 2.3 lbs (1.04 kg) for S/M/L and 2.6 lbs (1.18 kg) for L/XL/XXL. Total weight with all included accessories is 3.4 lbs (1.5 kg) for S/M/L and 3.6 lbs (1.6 kg) for L/XL/XXL.

Can this helmet be shipped to my state?
It depends on your state. Body armor including ballistic helmets cannot be shipped to New York or Connecticut due to state restrictions. Under 18 U.S.C. § 931, anyone with a federal felony conviction for a crime of violence is prohibited from purchasing or possessing body armor. The helmet is also subject to US export regulations for international orders.
What does NIJ Level IIIA+ mean and what does this helmet stop?
IIIA+ exceeds the NIJ IIIA standard, which covers the full handgun threat range up to .44 Magnum. The "+" designation means testing extended beyond that baseline — in this case including .50 AE JHP at 350 gr, 7.62x25mm Tokarev with steel jacket, and 5.7x28mm in both SS195 and Hornady Blue Tip loadings. The tested round list above details every caliber and projectile weight documented in testing.
Will this helmet stop rifle rounds?
No. No wearable ballistic helmet currently achieves rifle-rated (RF3 / Level IV equivalent) protection. This helmet addresses handgun calibers, shotgun projectiles, and low-velocity fragmentation threats. The HOSDB RF1 designation covers fragmentation resistance only — not high-velocity rifle fire. For any application involving rifle threats, a separate hard armor plate system is required for torso protection; head protection at rifle threat levels is not currently achievable in a wearable form factor.
How do I select the correct size?
Measure head circumference starting above the brow line with a flexible tape. Heads measuring 20–23 inches (50–59 cm) fit the S/M/L size; heads measuring 22–27 inches (57–69 cm) fit the L/XL/XXL size. There is overlap at 22–23 inches — if you fall in that range, the ratcheting headband and padding adjustability in either size can typically accommodate the fit. Does this helmet accept NVG mounts and standard rail accessories?
Yes. The helmet ships with a color-matched NVG shroud already installed and an ARC-to-Picatinny adapter in the box. The ARC rail system uses standard configurations, so existing accessories sized for mil-spec combat helmet platforms — lights, cameras, counterweights, mandible guards — mount directly without proprietary adapters. The bungees are self-holding and integrated into the ARC rail channels.
What is the difference between this helmet and a bump helmet?
A ballistic helmet uses an aramid or composite shell engineered to resist ballistic threats. A bump helmet uses a non-ballistic polymer shell that protects against impacts — falls, debris contact — but offers no protection against bullets or fragmentation. This FAST High-Cut is a ballistic helmet rated to IIIA+. If your use case involves firearms threats or fragmentation, a ballistic helmet is the correct choice.
Does the helmet come with a ballistic visor or communications headset?
No. The package includes the helmet, harness system, NVG shroud, ARC rail system with bungees, interior padding sets, and an ARC-to-Picatinny adapter. Ballistic visors and communications headsets are sold separately. The ARC rail system and standard shroud accept third-party and Atomic Defense accessories currently available on the market.
Bulletproof Zone will ship orders as soon as possible. For example, if you purchase three items, they will be shipped to you based on lead time and availability. This way you get as much of your order as soon as possible, which means that your order may come in separate packages, especially if you order products from different manufacturers.
We will bear the shipping cost for products returned because of product defect, misrepresentation, or false description. Afterward, we will initiate a full reimbursement should you decline an offer to replace the item with the same item of equal value and assured quality.

Order Shipment:
Orders are shipped within five business days from the date of your order unless specified otherwise on the product page. The product page will contain the most accurate estimate on shipping and lead times. Shipping and lead times provided on the product page are our best estimates based various factors including order volume, information from our manufacturer, raw material fluctuations, etc., and may vary due to these factors.
You will receive an email containing the tracking information of your order after the order has been shipped to your location. If you do not receive tracking information from us within seven business days of the lead time specified on the product page, feel free to follow up with us at orders@bulletproofzone.com.
Bulletproof Zone is not responsible for lost or stolen packages. A tracking number will be provided when the package is shipped. It is the buyer’s responsibility to provide a safe place to receive mail. Once an item has been marked as delivered by the carrier, the seller is not responsible should that item go missing.
Some of our products are carried by manufacturers in various countries. Due to the nature and cost of the products that Bulletproof Zone sells, you may be charged additional import duties upon delivery. Our support team can help in investigating abnormally high import duty charges but we are unable to cover the cost of any import duties.
Damages:
We take full responsibility for any obvious damage to your product caused by wrong packaging or delivering an already defective product. Please inspect the packaging of your item(s) when they arrive, if you notice any damage, you should document it when signing for delivery. If the item(s) contained in the package arrives damaged, please send photos to support@bulletproofzone.com, and we will process an insurance claim on your behalf.
Returns and Cancellation Policy:
We back all our products with a customer satisfaction guarantee, so we created a fair return and cancellation policy.
All sales are final. No Refunds, No Cancellations. In most cases, once the order is processed, it is final and not cancellable. We may allow exceptions due to an order error or wish to return your order after delivery for any reason other than a product defect or misrepresentation. Any cancellation request is subject to an administration and cancellation fee equal to 10% of your order with a minimum of $35, whether order shipment is successful or not.
All sales are final on all closeout items and for custom manufactured bulletproof clothing once the manufacturing process has begun or not returnable unless there is a product defect or misrepresentation. Before returning any product, you MUST obtain a return authorization from our customer service representative. We can only process AUTHORIZED returns for items.

Return or exchanges request submission must be within 14 calendar days upon receipt of shipment unless noted otherwise on the product description page. Your return must be in original packaging and unused.
We encourage using USPS flat-rate shipping in returning products to receive a shipping expense refund. Buyers must ensure all returned parcels delivery receipt AND signature confirmation. We highly recommend insuring your parcel as we cannot issue a refund for an item that we do not receive back should it get lost/damaged during transit.
Refunds:
Should an item be returned because it was defective, misrepresented, not as described, etc., Bulletproof Zone will issue a full refund and will reimburse the customer for all shipping expenses associated with the return.
Please allow 5-10 business days from the time the item is received to process a refund. Refunds will only be issued to the original credit card that you use when placing your order.
