vertx-urban-ghost-20l-tactical-backpack
Vertx Urban Ghost 20L Tactical Backpack

The Vertx Urban Ghost 20L is a low-profile tactical backpack designed for everyday carry and discreet concealed-carry use. Its ripstop exterior, lockable YKK zippers, and dedicated CCW compartment with a Rapid Access Half-Pull tab give security-minded carriers organized, fast access to their gear without drawing attention. Available in three colorways, the pack weighs 2.25 lb across all variants.

Built for Discreet Daily Carry

The Urban Ghost 20L is designed to look like any other urban backpack while carrying significantly more capability. The ripstop exterior resists daily wear and wipes clean, keeping the pack looking unremarkable in any environment. The padded back panel features Vertx's Urban Ghost pattern, which reads as a standard bag detail rather than a tactical identifier, useful for carriers who need to move through public spaces without signaling what they're carrying.

Fast, Organized Access to CCW Gear

The concealed CCW compartment is accessible via the Rapid Access Half-Pull tab. The tab is not fixed in place: it can be moved to any pocket to match the carrier's preferred draw side or carry style. The compartment interior is loop-lined, so hook-backed EDC accessories mount securely and stay put during movement. Lockable YKK zippers on both the main compartment and the CCW compartment add a layer of security when the pack is unattended or in transit.

Organized Storage and Carry Flexibility

A zip-down front panel opens to a full admin layout: admin pockets, stretch pockets, and loop elastic slots keep smaller items sorted and retrievable without digging. The double-layer padded laptop and tablet sleeve includes loop lining for Tactigami-compatible organization inserts. Stretch side pockets accommodate large water bottles, and the main compartment is hydration-bladder compatible. A luggage pass-through or shield-carry access point with hook-and-loop closure adds carry flexibility. Carabiner attachment points on the shoulder straps allow quick external gear attachment, and the sternum strap adjusts one-handed.

Armor-Ready Without the Profile

A concealed entry point inside the main compartment accepts soft or rigid body armor panels. The pack does not include armor. Panels must be sourced and purchased separately, but the dedicated sleeve means a carrier can add ballistic protection without modifying the bag or making the armor visible from the outside.

Features

Rapid Access Half-Pull Tab: repositionable to any pocket for customized CCW draw access

Loop-Lined CCW Compartment: secures hook-backed EDC accessories in place

Lockable YKK Zippers: on main compartment and CCW compartment

Concealed Armor Entry: accepts soft or rigid body armor panels inside the main compartment

Zip-Down Admin Panel: admin pockets, stretch pockets, and loop elastic slots for organized EDC storage

Hydration Compatible: main compartment fits a hydration bladder; stretch side pockets fit large bottles

Specifications

Specification

Detail

Capacity

20L

Weight

2.25 lb (all variants)

Exterior Material

Ripstop

Zippers

Lockable YKK (main compartment and CCW compartment)

Laptop/Tablet Sleeve

Double-layer padded, loop-lined

Hydration

Bladder-compatible main compartment; stretch side pockets for bottles

Armor Compatibility

Concealed entry for soft or rigid panels (armor not included)

Available Colors

It's Black, Mountain, Shock Cord

SKUs

VTX5305IBKN-A (It's Black), VTX5305MTN-A (Mountain), VTX5305SHCN-A (Shock Cord)

Who This Is For and Isn't

The Urban Ghost 20L suits everyday carriers, concealed-carry permit holders, and security professionals who need organized, fast-access CCW storage in a bag that doesn't read as tactical. The armor-ready sleeve makes it a practical choice for buyers who want the option to add soft or rigid ballistic panels to their daily carry without a dedicated plate carrier.

This pack does not include body armor of any kind. Panels must be purchased separately. It is not a plate carrier or a load-bearing vest, and it does not provide any ballistic protection on its own. Buyers looking for a bag with a rated ballistic panel already installed should look at purpose-built armored backpacks rather than this pack.

Common Questions

What is the Rapid Access Half-Pull tab, and can it be moved?

The Rapid Access Half-Pull tab on the Urban Ghost 20L is a pull mechanism that opens the CCW compartment quickly with a single motion. The tab is not fixed in place: it can be moved to any pocket on the pack, so carriers can position it on the side or angle that matches their preferred draw or dominant hand.

Does the pack come with body armor included?

No. The Vertx Urban Ghost 20L includes a concealed entry point inside the main compartment that accepts soft or rigid body armor panels, but no armor panel is included with the pack. Armor must be sourced and purchased separately. The pack itself provides no ballistic protection.

What size laptop or tablet does the sleeve fit?

The Urban Ghost 20L's padded laptop and tablet sleeve is double-layer padded and loop-lined for Tactigami-compatible organization inserts. No maximum screen size is stated for this sleeve. Buyers with a specific device size should confirm fit before purchasing.

Is the pack hydration-bladder compatible?

Yes. The main compartment of the Urban Ghost 20L is compatible with a hydration bladder. The pack also has stretch side pockets sized to fit large water bottles. A hydration bladder is not included.

Can this pack ship to my state?

The Vertx Urban Ghost 20L is a tactical backpack, not body armor, and is not subject to the New York or Connecticut body armor shipping restrictions. However, if armor panels are purchased separately and shipped to those states, those restrictions would apply to the armor. Under 18 U.S.C. § 931, anyone with a federal felony conviction for a crime of violence is prohibited from purchasing or possessing body armor.
