rothco-wool-rescue-survival-blanket
Rothco Wool Rescue Survival Blanket

The Rothco Wool Rescue Survival Blanket is a heavy-duty emergency and outdoor blanket woven from a 55% wool and 45% synthetic fiber blend, suited for camping, emergency preparedness, and bug-out kits. The wool construction provides natural insulation and inherent fire-retardant properties without chemical treatment. Two sizes are available (60" x 80" and 66" x 90") in Olive Drab and Grey.

Natural Warmth That Works in the Field

Wool retains heat even when damp, which matters when conditions shift unexpectedly. The Rothco Wool Rescue Survival Blanket's 55% wool content gives it the thermal retention that synthetic-only blankets can lose when wet. For a camper caught in overnight rain or a responder working in cold, wet conditions, that retained warmth is the practical difference between a blanket that keeps working and one that doesn't.

Fire-Retardant Without Additives

Wool is naturally resistant to ignition: it chars rather than melts or sustains a flame. The Rothco Wool Rescue Survival Blanket carries that property as part of its fiber composition, not as a surface coating that can wear off. Around a campfire or in an emergency scenario where open flame is nearby, that characteristic adds a layer of safety that a standard fleece or polyester blanket does not offer.

Durable Enough to Pack and Repack

The 45% synthetic fiber content reinforces the wool weave, reducing the pilling and fiber breakdown that pure wool blankets develop after repeated folding, compression, and use. The result is a blanket that holds up in a go-bag or emergency kit through multiple deployments rather than degrading after the first few uses. Both size variants weigh under 4 lbs, keeping pack weight manageable.

Features

55% Wool / 45% Synthetic Fiber blend: combines natural insulation with added durability

Natural fire-retardant properties: wool resists ignition inherently, without chemical coating

Two sizes: 60" x 80" and 66" x 90" to suit different coverage needs

Two colorways: Olive Drab and Grey

Suitable for bug-out bags and emergency kits: compact enough to pack, durable enough to reuse

Specifications

Specification

Olive Drab 60" x 80"

Olive Drab 66" x 90"

Grey 60" x 80"

Grey 66" x 90"

SKU

RTC-10430

RTC-10531

RTC-10429

RTC-10529

Weight

3.9 lb

3.95 lb

3.9 lb

3.2 lb

Dimensions

60" x 80"

66" x 90"

60" x 80"

66" x 90"

Material

55% Wool / 45% Synthetic Fibers

Origin

India

Who This Is For and Isn't

The Rothco Wool Rescue Survival Blanket suits campers, hikers, emergency responders, and anyone building out a go-bag or vehicle emergency kit who wants a blanket with natural insulation and fire-retardant properties. Wool provides natural insulation and inherent fire resistance; the synthetic fiber content reinforces the weave for durability through repeated use and compression. Neither property depends on a surface treatment that can wear away over time.

Is the fire-retardant property a chemical coating or inherent to the material?

The fire-retardant characteristic of the Rothco Wool Rescue Survival Blanket comes from the wool fiber itself, not from an applied coating. Wool chars rather than melts or sustains a flame, which is a property of the natural fiber. No additional chemical treatment is listed for this blanket.

Which size should I choose?

The Rothco Wool Rescue Survival Blanket is available in 60" x 80" and 66" x 90". The smaller size weighs 3.9 lb and packs more compactly for a go-bag or vehicle kit. The larger size offers more coverage for use as a primary wrap or shared blanket, at 3.95 lb in Olive Drab and 3.2 lb in Grey.

Can this blanket be used as a standalone shelter in rain or wind?

The Rothco Wool Rescue Survival Blanket is an insulating blanket, not a waterproof shelter.
