Its three-layer waterproof vinyl tarpaulin shell meets IPX7 waterproof standards, and tension-locked waterproof zippers seal out water at every closure. Available in Black, Olive Drab, and Desert Sand.

Built to Stay Dry

The Waveguard's three-layer waterproof vinyl tarpaulin shell is the foundation of its watertight design. The IPX7 rating means the pack is rated for full submersion, not just splash resistance. The waterproof zippers use a secure zipper seal engineered to increase tension as they close, and pull tabs give enough leverage to achieve a complete seal even with cold or wet hands. Zip the bag fully every time to maintain that performance.

Organized Storage for Wet Environments

The Waveguard carries 15.6 liters across a main compartment and a front pouch, both sealed with waterproof zippers. A side adjustable mesh bottle pouch adds accessible storage for a water bottle or smaller items without requiring the main compartment to be opened and re-sealed. At 16.5 inches tall by 11 inches wide by 5.25 inches deep, the pack holds a day's worth of gear without becoming unwieldy on the water or trail.

Carry Comfort and Attachment Options

Adjustable padded shoulder straps and a sternum strap distribute the load and keep the pack stable during active use. At 15.6 liters, it is a day-pack-sized bag and is not suited for multi-day expeditions requiring high-volume storage. The IPX7 rating applies when zippers are fully closed; partial closure will not maintain the waterproof seal.

Common Questions

What does the IPX7 rating mean for this backpack?

IPX7 means the Rothco Waveguard Waterproof Backpack is rated for full submersion, not just rain or splash resistance. To maintain that rating, the waterproof zippers must be fully closed before the pack enters water. The pull tabs are designed to help achieve a complete seal, particularly when hands are wet or cold.

How much gear does the Waveguard hold?

The Waveguard Waterproof Backpack has a 15.6-liter total capacity across its main compartment and front pouch, both sealed with waterproof zippers. The Rothco Waveguard Waterproof Backpack includes MOLLE loops on the exterior for attaching compatible pouches and accessories. This allows the pack's storage to be expanded without compromising the waterproof integrity of the main compartment or front pouch.

How do I keep the zippers performing correctly over time?

The Waveguard's tension-locked waterproof zippers are designed with a secure zipper seal that increases tension as they close. Always zip the bag completely to maintain waterproof performance. Use the pull tabs for leverage when a full seal is needed, especially after the bag has been in the water or exposed to heavy rain.

What colors is the Waveguard available in?

The Rothco Waveguard Waterproof Backpack is available in three colors: Black, Olive Drab, and Desert Sand.
