rothco-tactical-canvas-cargo-bag-backpack
Rothco Tactical Canvas Cargo Bag and Backpack

The Rothco Tactical Canvas Cargo Bag and Backpack is a heavyweight cotton canvas duffle designed for active-duty personnel, travelers, and anyone who needs to haul tools or equipment in a single, durable load. Its main compartment measures approximately 24 inches x 15 inches x 13 inches, and the bag converts between hand-carry and backpack carry via adjustable padded shoulder straps. Available in Black and Olive Drab.

Built to Carry a Full Load

The Rothco Tactical Canvas Cargo Bag is constructed from heavyweight canvas fabric that Rothco describes as naturally water-resistant. That material choice matters when gear has to survive rain, mud, or rough handling in the field or in transit: the canvas resists abrasion and holds its shape under a packed load in a way that lighter synthetics often do not. At 24 x 15 x 13 inches, the main compartment is large enough to swallow a full set of kit, a change of clothes, or a substantial collection of hand tools without forcing you to choose what stays behind.

Secure Closure, Fast Access

The Rothco Tactical Canvas Cargo Bag uses a full-length heavy-duty zipper that runs the entire top of the bag, so the opening is wide enough to reach anything inside without digging. A snap flap cover sits over the zipper for an added layer of closure, useful when the bag is slung over a shoulder or stowed in a vehicle where the zipper pull could catch on something. Together, the zipper and snap flap keep contents accessible when you need them and contained when you do not.

Two Ways to Carry

Dual web handles are reinforced with crosshatch stitching at the attachment points, which distributes stress across a wider area of canvas rather than concentrating it at a single seam, a practical detail when the bag is fully loaded. When hand-carry is not practical, the adjustable backpack-style padded shoulder straps with D-rings let the bag ride on the back, freeing both hands. The D-rings also provide attachment points for additional gear or accessories.

Features

Heavyweight canvas construction: Cotton canvas material described as naturally water-resistant and built for extended use.

Large main compartment: Approximately 24 x 15 x 13 inches of interior space.

Full-length heavy-duty zipper: Runs the full length of the bag opening for wide, unobstructed access.

Snap flap cover: Covers the zipper along its full length for added closure security.

Dual reinforced web handles: Crosshatch stitched at attachment points for load-bearing durability.

Adjustable padded shoulder straps with D-rings: Convert the bag to backpack carry and provide accessory attachment points.

Specifications

Specification

Detail

Dimensions

Approximately 24 in x 15 in x 13 in

Material

Heavyweight cotton canvas

Weight

2.75 lb

Colors

Black, Olive Drab

Closure

Full-length heavy-duty zipper with snap flap cover

Carrying options

Dual reinforced web handles; adjustable padded shoulder straps with D-rings

Country of origin

India

California Prop 65

Contains Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP), a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.

Who This Is For and Isn't

The Rothco Tactical Canvas Cargo Bag suits active-duty personnel, field workers, travelers, and tradespeople who need a single large-capacity bag that can be carried by hand or worn as a backpack. The heavyweight canvas construction makes it a reasonable choice for rough-use environments where a lighter bag would wear out quickly.

This bag is not a ballistic or protective product and provides no protection against ballistic, stab, or any other threat. Rothco lists these as approximate figures, so minor variation is possible. The full-length zipper opening makes the entire compartment accessible without having to reach through a narrow gap.

Is the canvas waterproof or just water-resistant?

Rothco describes the heavyweight canvas fabric on this bag as naturally water-resistant, not waterproof. The material will handle light moisture and brief exposure to rain, but it is not a sealed or coated waterproof construction. For extended wet conditions, additional waterproofing or a rain cover would be advisable.

Can this bag be worn as a backpack?

Yes. The Rothco Tactical Canvas Cargo Bag includes adjustable backpack-style padded shoulder straps with D-rings, so it can be worn on the back as an alternative to hand-carry via the dual web handles. The D-rings also allow accessories or additional gear to be clipped to the straps.

What does the Prop 65 warning on this bag mean?

This bag carries a California Proposition 65 warning for Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP), a chemical the State of California has identified as known to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. This warning is required for sale in California and does not necessarily indicate that the product is unsafe for its intended use.
