rothco-lightweight-armor-plate-carrier-vest
Rothco Lightweight Armor Plate Carrier Vest

The Rothco Lightweight Armor Plate Carrier Vest is a MOLLE-compatible plate carrier built for users who need a functional, low-bulk platform without the weight of a full tactical rig. Constructed from 600 Denier Polyester, it accepts medium or large swimmer, SAPI, and ESAPI plates up to 10" x 13". The carrier is sold empty, with no ballistic plates or soft armor included. It is available in Regular and 2XL/3XL sizes across Black, Olive Drab, Coyote Brown, Grey, and MultiCam colorways.

Minimal Weight, Maximum Mobility

The Rothco Lightweight Armor Plate Carrier Vest weighs approximately 1.2 lbs, making it one of the lighter options in a standard plate carrier form factor. For users who spend extended time on their feet, such as range instructors, training cadre, or recreational shooters running drills, reduced carrier weight means less cumulative fatigue over a long day. The weight savings come from deliberate material choices and a stripped-down chassis rather than from cutting structural features.

Skeletonized Cummerbund for Airflow and Fit

The Rothco Lightweight Armor Plate Carrier Vest uses a skeletonized MOLLE cummerbund, which reduces material mass around the torso and opens channels for airflow during high-output activity. The cummerbund is fully adjustable, and the shoulder straps are also adjustable, so the carrier can be dialed in across a range of torso sizes within each size band. A carrier that fits correctly distributes the weight of inserted plates more evenly and reduces shifting during movement.

Front and Rear MOLLE for Gear Configuration

The Rothco Lightweight Armor Plate Carrier Vest features an integrated MOLLE webbing system on both the front and rear panels, in addition to the MOLLE cummerbund. This lets the wearer attach pouches, accessories, and mission-specific gear without modifying the carrier itself. The MOLLE layout on both panels means the loadout can be split front and back rather than concentrated on one side.

Features

Ultra-Lightweight Build: Carrier weighs approximately 1.2 lbs in 600 Denier Polyester construction.

Skeletonized MOLLE Cummerbund: Reduces weight and promotes airflow around the torso during active use.

Front and Rear MOLLE Integration: Full MOLLE webbing on both panels and cummerbund for pouch and accessory attachment.

Adjustable Fit System: Fully adjustable cummerbund and shoulder straps for fit across a range of torso sizes.

Plate Compatibility: Accepts medium or large swimmer, SAPI, and ESAPI plates up to 10" x 13".

Specifications

Specification

Regular

2XL / 3XL

Material

600 Denier Polyester

Carrier Weight

1.75 lb (Black, OD, Coyote, Grey); 1.8 lb (MultiCam)

2 lb (Black, OD, MultiCam)

Plate Compatibility

Medium or large swimmer / SAPI / ESAPI, up to 10" x 13"

MOLLE System

Front panel, rear panel, and cummerbund

Adjustability

Cummerbund and shoulder straps, fully adjustable

Available Colors

Black, Olive Drab, Coyote Brown, Grey, MultiCam

Black, Olive Drab, MultiCam

Country of Origin

China

California Proposition 65 Warning: This product contains Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP), a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.

Who This Is For and Isn't

The Rothco Lightweight Armor Plate Carrier Vest suits shooters, range staff, training cadre, and tactical enthusiasts who want a low-weight MOLLE platform to run with their own plates. It works for users who already own or plan to purchase medium or large swimmer, SAPI, or ESAPI plates separately, and who prioritize a lighter, more breathable carrier over a heavier feature-loaded rig.

This carrier does not include ballistic plates or soft armor of any kind.
