rothco-lc1-alice-pack-frame-attachments
Rothco LC-1 Alice Pack Frame with Attachments

The Rothco LC-1 Alice Pack Frame is an aluminum external-frame system designed to fit standard military ALICE packs and distribute load weight evenly across the back and hips during extended carry. Measuring 20.5 by 12.5 inches, the frame ships with padded shoulder straps and a quick-release kidney pad. It is suited to military personnel, outdoor enthusiasts, and survivalists carrying heavy loads over long distances.

Load Balance Across the Whole Torso

The LC-1-style aluminum frame transfers pack weight away from the shoulders and spreads it across the hips through an integrated kidney pad. That distribution reduces the fatigue that builds on long expeditions, letting a carrier sustain a heavier load for longer without the same degree of lower-back strain.

Straps Built for Heavy Loads

The shoulder straps are reinforced with box "X" stitching and constructed from 100% denier polyester, a weave pattern that resists tearing under sustained tension. Additional padding inside each strap reduces pressure points during extended wear, and the straps are adjustable to fit a range of torso lengths.

Quick-Release Waistbelt for Fast Doffing

The kidney pad doubles as a waistbelt secured by a quick-release buckle. When a situation calls for dropping the pack fast, one motion releases the hip connection without having to work through a series of buckles. The pad itself is constructed from the same 100% denier polyester as the shoulder straps, rated by Rothco for all-weather outdoor use.

Features

LC-1 aluminum frame: fits standard military ALICE packs; 20.5 x 12.5 inches

Box "X"-stitched shoulder straps: 100% denier polyester with added padding; adjustable length

Quick-release kidney pad/waistbelt: alleviates lower-back pressure and releases with a single buckle motion

All-weather construction: aluminum frame and polyester straps rated for harsh weather and sustained outdoor use

Adaptable design: compatible with various military packs; also used as a costume or prop backbone

Specifications

Specification

Detail

Dimensions

20.5 in x 12.5 in

Frame material

Aluminum

Strap and pad material

100% denier polyester

Weight

2.4 lb

Weather rating

All weather

Intended user

Adult

Origin

China

WARNING (California Proposition 65): This product contains Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP), a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

Who This Is For and Isn't

The Rothco LC-1 Alice Pack Frame suits military personnel, hikers, survivalists, and outdoor enthusiasts who need a durable external frame to carry heavy loads over extended distances, or who want to mount an ALICE-compatible pack to a structured frame for better weight distribution. Rothco does not publish a specific compatibility list beyond that designation, so buyers pairing this frame with a non-ALICE pack should verify attachment-point dimensions before ordering.

Is a pack or bag included with this frame?

No. This listing covers the aluminum frame, shoulder straps, and kidney pad/waistbelt only. The quick-release buckle lets the wearer drop the waistbelt connection in a single motion when needed.

What is the frame made of, and how does it hold up in bad weather?

The frame itself is aluminum, and the shoulder straps and kidney pad are constructed from 100% denier polyester. Rothco rates the complete assembly for all-weather outdoor use, meaning the materials are intended to withstand rain and the general conditions of field or trail use.

Can this frame be used for a costume or prop build?

Yes.
