rothco-8-inch-jungle-boots
Rothco 8 Inch Jungle Boots

The Rothco 8 Inch Jungle Boots are military-style hot-weather tactical boots built for field use, outdoor work, and training in arid, humid, or jungle conditions. Constructed with a canvas and nylon upper over an action leather vamp, these boots combine ankle support with ventilation through two built-in vent holes. Available in Black and Olive Drab, in regular and wide widths, across a full range of men's sizes.

Ventilation Built Into the Boot

The Rothco Jungle Boots include two vent holes positioned to allow airflow during movement in hot or humid environments. Combined with the canvas and nylon upper construction, this design lets heat and moisture escape rather than accumulate, which matters during extended wear in warm climates or high-output activities where a sealed boot would become uncomfortable quickly.

Traction on Uneven Ground

The outsole is vulcanized leather with a cleated Panama sole pattern. The Panama tread is a classic jungle-boot design chosen for its ability to shed mud and grip irregular surfaces: fieldwork, trail use, and outdoor training environments where flat-soled footwear loses purchase. The vulcanized construction bonds the sole firmly to the upper for durability under repeated flexing.

Structure and Ankle Support

The 8-inch shaft height and reinforced seams provide ankle support during movement over uneven terrain. An internal steel shank runs through the midsole to reduce fatigue on the heel and calf over long wear periods by limiting unwanted flex in the sole. The 9-eyelet metal lace system allows the fit to be adjusted along the full height of the boot. These boots are sized to run approximately one size large; consult the Rothco Classic Military Jungle Boots size chart before ordering.

Features

Dual vent holes: two built-in vents for airflow in hot and humid conditions

Canvas and nylon upper: breathable construction over an action leather vamp

Panama cleated outsole: vulcanized leather sole with mud-shedding tread pattern

Internal steel shank: reduces heel and calf fatigue, adds sole stability

9-eyelet metal lace system: full-height lacing for adjustable fit and ankle support

Reinforced seams: added durability at high-stress points

Specifications

Specification

Detail

Shaft height

8 inches

Upper material

Canvas / nylon with action leather vamp

Outsole

Vulcanized leather, cleated Panama sole

Shank

Internal steel shank

Lace system

9-eyelet metal

Vent holes

2

Closure

Laces

Colors available

Black, Olive Drab

Widths available

Regular, Wide

Fit note

Runs approximately one size large

Weather rating

Hot weather

Origin

China

Prop 65 warning

Contains lead

Who This Is For and Isn't

These boots suit military personnel, outdoor workers, airsoft players, and anyone who needs a hot-weather tactical boot with ankle support, ventilation, and reliable traction on uneven or muddy terrain. The wide-width option makes them accessible to buyers who find standard tactical boots too narrow. Olive Drab suits field and uniform use; Black suits duty, training, or everyday tactical wear.

These are not insulated or waterproof boots and are not suited for cold-weather or wet-weather use where moisture exclusion is the priority. No electrical hazard, slip-resistance, or safety-toe rating is stated for these boots, so they should not be selected for worksites where those certifications are required.

Common Questions

Do these boots run true to size?

The Rothco 8 Inch Jungle Boots are sized to run approximately one size large. Most buyers should order one size down from their normal shoe size. A size chart for the Classic Military Jungle Boots is available from Rothco to help confirm the right fit before ordering.

Are these boots waterproof?

No. The Rothco 8 Inch Jungle Boots are designed for hot-weather ventilation, not moisture exclusion. The canvas and nylon upper and the two built-in vent holes allow airflow but will not keep water out in wet conditions. These boots are rated for hot weather use, not waterproof or wet-weather applications.

What is the outsole made of, and how does it grip?

The Rothco 8 Inch Jungle Boots use a vulcanized leather outsole with a cleated Panama sole pattern. The Panama tread is designed to shed mud and grip uneven surfaces, supporting movement in jungle, field, and outdoor terrain. The vulcanized construction bonds the sole to the upper for durability under repeated flexing.

What does the steel shank do?

The internal steel shank in the Rothco 8 Inch Jungle Boots runs through the midsole to limit unwanted flex in the sole. This reduces strain on the heel and calf during extended wear, particularly on hard or uneven ground, and adds overall stability to the boot's structure.

Does one colorway include a removable insole?

The product data indicates that one style in this line includes a removable insole, but the colorway description contains a discrepancy that has been flagged for review. Confirm with the product team which colorway carries the removable insole before this detail is published.

Are there any chemical exposure warnings for these boots?

Yes.
